The Gene Haas SkillsUSA Machining Championship Award Certificates were presented by NIMS at the June 26th, 2015 Awards Ceremony to 18 national medal winners of the three CNC Machining Contests in the following amounts: Gold: $4,000, Silver: $3,000, and Bronze: $2,000.
In addition, NIMS awarded $1000 GHF scholarships to each state SkillsUSA Gold Medal winner who came to Louisville (135 students) competing in the CNC Milling, CNC Turning and CNC Technician national competitions sponsored by NIMS in Louisville, Kentucky.
SkillsUSA headed to Louisville, Ky., June 22-26, 2015, for the 51st annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. More than 15,000 people — including students, teachers and business partners — are expected to participate in the week long event.
The SkillsUSA Championships was held on Wednesday, June 24, and Thursday, June 25, in Louisville. More than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students — all state contest winners competed hands-on in 99 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, CNC machining, medical assisting and culinary arts.
Contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations and labor organizations, and test competencies are set by industry.
Leadership contestants will demonstrate skills including extemporaneous speaking and conducting meetings by parliamentary procedure. The competitions will be open to the public and free of charge.
