(Camarillo, CA)—The Gene Haas Foundation generously donated $30,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo. This grant will support the Bike Shop Repair Program (BSRP). BSRP is an introductory to engineering craftsmanship-style bike clinic. Club members with the help of instructors repair donated bicycles. Then the bicycles are given to members or other kids in the community in need. The repair shop is stocked with new tools and gives members the opportunity to learn hands-on skills from local bike experts to fix bicycles. The bicycle clinic is a two-hour clinic offered 3 days a week for 10-15 kids ages 10-18. The Club anticipates over 200 members will repair and ride bicycles over the course of the year.
The Gene Haas Foundation is the personal foundation of Gene Haas. Haas is founder of Haas Automation, the largest machine tool builder in the western world. Over 1,200 workers with above-average wages and generous benefits are employed at the company’s Oxnard (CA) manufacturing operations. Gene Haas remains very involved in the design and engineering of the Haas Machines.
The Boys & Girls Club is so grateful that the Gene Haas Foundation is in partnership once again in this important work.
